Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican American journalist. She currently works for ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the child of television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bi-lingual since nine years old. It was a helpful skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant with Univision in Miami and provided her with the opportunity to be a part of the production team for National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next job was as an Sports Reporter for the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as an anchor for the newscast of KNVO TV 48 Univision. Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Reporters covered issues related to immigration and drug trafficking across both Texas and Mexico. In addition, she was frequently required to act as a sports or weather anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallas' affiliate, where she takes on more responsibility. She reported on all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. Besides this, she produced the local Univision 23 sports program Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor herself. She was appointed as the anchor for sports by Despierta America Deportes for their morning program. She served in the same capacity for the network's magazine show Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on November 22 the 22nd of November, 1985. She also has an older sibling. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and eventually settled in Miami. Soon after, her parents separated and in the year 1995, Fabio Fajardo got married again. He died from kidney cancer in the year 2006. It was during a time of summer when she was with her younger sister at Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured the job. Antonietta who was in high school with an idea of what she would like her life to be, visited Mount Union University to see whether the university was suitable for her. The campus was stunning and provided the education she wanted. She completed her schooling and was accepted to the University with a degree in media studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a member of her class, formed an ongoing relationship with the student. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her confidence, and his passion in Journalism touched her deeply. As a result, she was determined to exceed his expectations always delivering on time.
