Ruth Roman is the youngest daughter born to Lithuanian as well as Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) and Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Ruth was a small child when her father, who worked as the carnival barker, passed away. Her mother was forced to perform tasks like waitressing, cleaning and washing. Ruth went to school in Boston's tenement region, which was the most deplorable. Her school was closed in two short years to pursue acting. Her path was not without obstacles. While in New York, her first job involved posing stills for crime magazines. her dream of performing in the theater she longed to do was abyssal. Then, after a stint as a club hat girl and a club hat girl, she made the decision to go home and quit the job she was working in.
